On 12 July we held a virtual day of debate on a territorialized electricity tariff. Organized by the Galician Wind Observatory, it counted on the collaboration of Fidel Castro-Rodríguez from the University of Vigo and the Economic Analysis, Accounting and Finance (RGEAF) Research Group, who took part as the moderator of the event.
The day began with the participation of Aitor Ciarreta from the University of the Basque Country. Dr. Ciarreta’s presentation, entitled “Economic Analysis of Zone Prices in Electricity Markets”, listed the reasons that explain differentiated prices by regions and presented experiences in other European countries. For her part, Clara Isabel González Bravo, Head of the Regulated Prices Area of the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) focused her intervention on The Single Electricity Rate in Spain. González Bravo’s intervention defended the fact that Spanish regulations only allow for the presence of a single electricity tariff. Finally, Xosé Manuel Golpe Acuña, the Axencia Enerxética Provincial de A Coruña Foundation (FAEPAC) and Nosa Enerxía S. Coop. gave a presentation on the Galician Electric Tariff, motivation and objectives. Acuña pointed out that, even under current regulations, nothing can stop Galician companies and consumers from receiving consideration via general state budgets as do Basque companies.
At the end of the speeches, a very fruitful debate further clarified these presentations.
