Both Galician and Portuguese Common Land Community cases will take the floor in the sixth session of this Friday on the Wind Seminar (4 December) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Prof Joana Nogueira from the Higher Agrarian School of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana del Castillo will moderate this session in which Amâncio Alves, President of the Board of Directors of Baldio de Anhões (Monção), will tell us how wind energy works in the parish of Monção. Three different experiences will be unfolded in the case of Galicia. One will be about Serra do Xistral in the north of Lugo.
José Antonio García Pico, President of the CMVMC of San Pantaleón (Ourol), and Noemí García Saavedra, member of the technical team providing support to the Community, will illustrate the experience of their community in the implementation of wind energy in their mountain lands. José Manuel Yglesias, technician of the MVMC of Carballo (Friol, Lugo), will discuss imminent wind projects in the Friol lands. Finally, the initiative to constitute the first energy community with the participation of a common land community in Galicia will be presented by Gonzalo Pérez Vázquez, coordinator of the CMVMC of Tameiga (Mos, Pontevedra), and Xosé Manuel Golpe, energy consultant of Nosa Enerxía SCG.
By means of this session, the Seminar for a Sustainable and Equitable Energy System aims to give voice to a main actor in Galician and Northern Portugal territorial management: neighboring mountain and wasteland communities. These actors must be present to build a different future for rural areas. What is more, rather than solely be limited to participating in forest management, they should also be allowed to take part in the promotion of energy.
